Gisely Ferraz, Gi, or @brazilianclimbergirl professional climber was born in Brazil and naturalized in the USA. She is a mom, Captain, and owner of a sailboat in Squamish, van life, and Irata I certified for rope access and guide in Utah. Gi is an athlete for La Sportiva Passion Team , Julbo, Mountain House and co-instructor for “The Art of Offwidth Clinics” with Pamela “Shanti” Pack, whom she establishes FAs within the infamous Utah desert. She also promotes a experience in Patagonia - Argetina for beginners and intermediate climbers. She has been climbing for 25 years. As a younger climber, she competed in the Brazilian Climbing Nationals for 5 years. Gi was the third Brazilian female to breakthrough the grade 5.13 Sport Climbing in 2000.
After her first experience on El Captain, her passion and focus changed to crack climbing and adventure lines. She has climbed El Cap twice (Freerider and Salathe), fascinated by the style, she has been working on free Freerider ( her long term project ). Gi also loves Alpine climbing she climbed EL Mostro La Presença de Mi Padre in Patagonia Chilena, Cochamo. One thousand meters of granite (25 pitches, 5.10d) in 17hours with Ken Anderson and in 2022 she summit her DREAM montain Fitz Roy in Patagonia.
Supporting and work with the community is one of her main goals after she lost her lover, best friend, and climbing partner Ken Anderson in a tragic climbing accident in Squamish, Canada in 2019. After over a year of working on her traumas and receiving endless support from the climbing community and friends, she has found joy and resilience through climbing again.
